WPCSD Reopening Plans and Registration
Superintendent's Message 7.24.20

The West Point Consolidated School District Board of Trustees approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to delay the start of school until Monday, August 31, 2020.  The Superintendent’s request was made after consulting with the Clay County Emergency Management Agency.    Factors related to the spike in COVID-19 numbers across Clay County and surrounding areas influenced this decision.   Changing the date that school starts will make it necessary to adjust the school calendar.     Once changes are confirmed with dates, we will share that information with you.    On August 31st, all students will start school via virtual/distance learning.   Students who chose traditional (face-to-face) option will transition back to school at a later date based on information obtained from EMA, local health officials and the Mississippi Department of Education. Staff will be notified on Monday, July 27th of changes to their schedules.

UPDATED PLANS BEGINNING 9/21/20

The West Point Consolidated School District will begin a hybrid schedule on Monday, September 21st.  ALL students will participate in virtual learning on Mondays.  Students who will return to school for traditional learning will begin class on Tuesday, September 22nd.  If you have not been notified letting you know if your child is in the Green Group or the White Group, please contact the school on Monday.  Students in the Green Group will attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Students in the White Group will attend school on Wednesdays and Fridays.

To help make this a smooth transition, here are a few reminders:

If you can provide transportation for your child to and from school, it would be greatly appreciated.

All students will have to wear masks while on the school bus and during the school day when requested by school staff.  Please remind your students of the importance of social distancing and wearing their masks for safety reasons.

Buses will continue to deliver lunch on Mondays ONLY.

Visitors will not be allowed in the buildings except by appointment.

We will follow our normal daily schedule, but expect some delays due to the number of car riders both in the morning and the afternoon.  Please be patient with us, and keep in mind that safety is our number one priority for ALL our students and staff.

If you have further questions, please contact your child's school.   Thank you.
